Stephen Thompson obtained his bachelor's in chemistry from the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 2019. From there, Stephen went on to intern at the University of California in Los Angeles researching Environmental DNA (eDNA) through its effects on ocean acidification along southern California's coasts through sampling, extraction, PCR techniques, and sequencing. Stephen joined the USF Chemistry department in August of 2020 and his research interests include: Marine Chemistry, Marine Natural Products, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Ecology
