Sefat earned her bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and master's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh in 2020. During this time, she worked on the Preparation of all natural microbiologically stable Aloe vera juice with Dr. Abu Shara Shamsur Rouf and during her master's degree she worked on the Chemical and Biological Investigation of Castanopsis tribuloides and Hygrophilia ereta under the supervision of Dr. A. T. M. Zafrul Azam. Sefat joined the doctoral program at USF in August of 2021 and her work focuses on the extraction of fungi in pursuit of novel antibacterial drugs for ESKAPE pathogens.
